Our Music Program of Excellence provides students in Years 7-12 with a unique opportunity to develop their musical talents and pursue their love of music in a supportive and challenging environment. Students will learn alongside like-minded musicians and receive expert instruction from experienced and passionate teachers. They will have access to a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including specialised practice rooms and performance spaces, to allow them to develop their skills and explore their creativity.
Our Program offers a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of musical genres and styles, including classical, jazz, contemporary, and world music. Students can specialise in particular areas of interest, such as composition, performance, or music production, and participate in a range of ensemble groups, such as bands, orchestras, and choirs.
In addition to classroom learning, our Music Program of Excellence provides students with numerous opportunities to perform both within the school and in the wider community. We have a strong tradition of working with industry professionals, competitions, and workshops, which helps students gain valuable experience, build their confidence, and network with other musicians. Wavell aims to provide a stimulating and rewarding musical education, which inspires and encourages students to pursue their love of music both in the classroom and beyond.

Criteria to be considered for the Music Program of Excellence:
Applicants for our programs must demonstrate strength in their previous academic studies and a strong capacity for involvement in school activities. Auditions for Year 7 will be held in June at Wavell State High School.
Wavell will utilise the following information to determine eligibility for the Program:
- Performance at Music Audition.
- Students most recent Report Card.
- Resumé of activities and achievements over the past two years.
