Wavell has a long history of excellence. Our school currently offers a number of Programs of Excellence which provide unique opportunities and learning experiences for our students.
These Programs are provided to support talented students meet the challenges of academic study while further developing their talent and ability in their chosen field. These Programs have proven to be very popular, with places being highly sought after.
Learners at Wavell are challenged to become critical, creative and reflective people of character, equipped to contribute to their communities. Our Programs are widely sought after by students from across Brisbane's northern suburbs. Entry is competitive and granted through a selective application and evaluation process.
A limited number of scholarship opportunities are available to talented students in each of our Programs.

Applications received after this date will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Co-ordinator.

Academic
Wavell encourages students to reach their full potential and prepare for their future by offering the Academic Program of Excellence in Years 7, 8, and 9. This Program provides extension and enrichment in core subjects (Mathematics, Science, English, History and Geography) for academically gifted students.
Dance
Our Dance Program of Excellence is designed to enhance the current dance experience of students in Years 7 – 12. The program offers expert tuition, performance opportunities to develop students' skills and knowledge in dance theory, styles, and physical abilities. Our Program provides a supportive and enriching environment for our students.
Drama
Our Drama Program of Excellence fosters students' passion for acting and theatre through supportive classes, workshops, and performances. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers on creative projects and gain the confidence and skills to pursue careers in the performing arts.
Music
Our Music Program of Excellence provides students in Years 7 – 12 the opportunity to learn alongside like-minded musicians at an accelerated level in the areas of musicology, composition and performance. Students accepted into the Music Program of Excellence must also participate in our Instrumental Music Program.
Netball
Our Netball Program of Excellence is designed for students in Year 7 – 12 who wish to develop their skills and passion for netball while pursuing their academic studies. The program offers expert coaching, and participation in prominent competitions and events. Our aim it to provide a supportive and challenging environment for students to excel in personal and athletic development, while also achieving academic success.
Rugby League
Our Rugby League Program of Excellence is offered for both boys and girls and has a long history of nurturing aspiring professional athletes together with their academic studies. Using Rugby League as a tool to drive high standards and performance outcomes, our students are shaped to be positive young adults both on and off the field with prosperous post-schooling pathways.
