Brisbane Festival Goa Billboards Competition Finalists Announced

5/08/2014
In May, 35 of our Year 10 and 11 Visual Art students attended a 2 hour photography workshop with local artist, Henri van Noordenburg, as part of this year’s Brisbane Festival GOA Billboards Photography Competition. Twenty five students entered the competition, creating images in response to the theme “ANZACs”.
On Monday 4th August, three of our Year 10 students, Alannah Baylis, Tamaryn Johnson and Tom Meincke were announced as Finalists in the Schools category. Their works will feature on goa’s electronic billboards and in an exhibition at the Judith Wright Centre as part of the Brisbane Festival.
Their artworks, along with finalists from the Open category, are on a Facebook page where the public can vote for their favourite image. The entry with the most ‘likes’ will be awarded The People’s Choice Award. We would encourage the Wavell High community to get behind our students by voting for their favourite work. To do so, please visit the link at http://www.brisbanefestival.com.au/whats-on/goa-billboards-project before Friday 12 September. The overall winners and runners up will be announced on Tuesday 16 September. We wish our students well with their entries.
