Widely regarded as a nursery producing gifted players and a long time bastion of Rugby League on Brisbane’s north side, Wavell High provides an opportunity for students to enhance their interest in Rugby League. The school provides valid educational experiences in Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 for students to explore their Rugby League interest.

The Wavell High Rugby League program enjoys strong support from the local community. The program is aided in its pursuit of excellence by the expert assistance from the development officers of Norths Rugby League Club and Aspley Rugby League Club.

Teams at the school compete in the Aspley/Broncos, Broncos South East Queensland and the National Arrive Alive Cup competitions.
All students must display high levels of achievement in Behaviour and Effort to be enrolled in the Sporting Excellence classes in Rugby League from Years 9 – 12. Students must meet the strict effort and behaviour criteria to stay enrolled in the Rugby League Program.
