ESL students come from a non-English speaking background and have identifiable second language development needs in English.
Students with identified second language needs are eligible for ESL support for five years after their arrival in Australia. Students are identified as being eligible for support during the enrolment interview. They are then referred to the ESL teacher.
Olive Tone is an ESL teacher who visits Wavell on Wednesdays and Fridays to support our ESL students. Olive is an experienced classroom teacher who has undergone additional training in second language acquisition, linguistics and cross cultural communication.
